Naughton Named A-10 Pitcher Of The Week

PHILADELPHIA - Owls' pitcher Liz Naughton was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. Naughton earned the honor for her pitching performance against Dayton this weekend.
On Friday, (May 4th) Naughton helped Temple clinch second place in the Atlantic 10 by hurling a 5-2 complete game win. She allowed no earned runs in the three-hitter while striking out five. On Saturday (May 5th) Naughton picked up the 3-2 decision helping the Owls to three-game sweep of Dayton. The win was Naughton sixth in a row (14th overall). For the week Naughton (14-7) pitched 14 innings, striking out eight and posted a 1.00 ERA. She is second in the Atlantic 10 with 14 wins and fourth in ERA with a 1.51 ERA.
Naughton, a sophomore hails from Olyphant, Pa. and graduated from Mid-Valley High School She has six wins in the Owls current ten game winning streak. Naughton has given up one earned run in her last 28 innings pitched.
Temple (28-24, 15-6, A-10) has produced the second best record in school's history with 28 wins. The 1996 team holds the record for wins with 31 (31-20 record). The second seeded Owls will meet St.Joseph's (21-21, 12-9, A-10) in the first round of the A-10 Championship in Dayton on Thursday. The Owls won two of three from the Hawks at home earlier this season (April 7-8).
