Temple University Athletics
2001 Season Review in Brief
8.1.01 | Men's Tennis
Under third-year head coach Bill Hoehne, the Owls dropped from second to eighth place among 11 teams in the Atlantic 10 Conference and finished the season with a disappointing 6-10 overall dual-match record ... The team recorded regular-season victories over Maryland-Baltimore Co., Sacred Heart (Fairfield, CT), Dayton and Lehigh ... At the A-10 Tournament in Pittsburgh, the team lost its opener to Xavier, 4-1, then rallied for a 4-3 victory over La Salle in the second round ... The team then defaulted successive matches to Dayton and Rhode Island ... A bright spot for the Owls saw senior Jenson Bascome named the Atlantic 10 Conference Student-Athlete of the Year in the sport, the highest academic-athletic accolade of any Temple University student athlete of the year ... Senior Krishane Pillay was named to the A-10 All-Conference Team.
