BATTLE OF THE BIRDS END IN A SCORELESS TIE

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple women's soccer battled Saint Joseph's in the Owls Atlantic 10 Conference opener to a scoreless tie on Tuesday night game under the lights at Saint Joseph's Field. The tie leaves the Owls' record at 4-2-1, (0-0-1).

Temple outplayed the Hawks in every aspect of the game. Temple out shot Saint Joseph's 12-7.

The Owls played an outstanding game on turf, a surface the Owls seldom play on. Temple were led by outstanding performances from leading scorer junior midfielder Jeanette Hibbs (Philadelphia,PA./ St. Hubert's), senior forward Julie Marx (Newark, DE./Newark), sophomore midfielder Brenda Gore (Southampton, PA./William Tennent) and freshman midfielder Christine McInaw who left the game after a bone crushing collision with the Hawks goalkeeper. "This was a great overall team effort", said head coach Seamus McWilliams.

Temple 4-2-1 (0-0-1) will visit Long Island University on Sunday, September 30 at 2:30p.m.
