Philadelphia- Temple women's soccer defeated Long Island 3-1 Sunday, afternoon at Temple Stadium.The win raises the Owls' record to 5-2-1,(0-0-1) in the A-10). It is the Temple's second shutout of the season.
Temple's freshman forward Melissa Foley (Hamilton,NJ./Hamilton) opened the scoring with a goal in the 35th minute.Juniors Liz Frengs (Collingwood,NJ and Johanna Yemm (Fort Washington,Pa/Upper Dublin) sealed the win with goals at the 55th minute ant the 59th minute.
The Owls goalkeeper combination of graduate student Kristen Bakia (Manalapan,NJ./Manalapan) recorded one save and earned her first win of the season leveling her record to 1-1 and freshman sensation Jackie Mauro (Philadephia,Pa./Arch Bishop Ryan posted 3 saves to combined on the shutout. Temple defense allowed only four shots on goal.
Temple 5-2-1 will next host Duquesne in a conference game on Friday, afternoon at 4 p.m. at Geasey Field.
