Women's Soccer: Owls Outlast Knights 2-1 In Double Overtime In the Elements

The Knights scored first on a goal by sophomore forward Kelly Geraghty early in the first half.
The Owls'junior defender Liz O'Brien tied the score at 1-1 with an early second half goal. Temple had plenty of opportunities to score out shooting the Knights 27-5. But after 90 minutes of regulation time the score was tied at one apiece. The score remained tied after the first 15 minutes of overtime as Temple again dominated action on their offensive end.
Five minutes into the second overtime Temple's senior forward Brandy Wright executed a perfect pass in the crease and freshman forward Melissa Foley tapped the ball in the net to ended the contest after 110 minutes of mud and rained soaked action. The actual game lasted more than three-hours. "We fought back and refuse to lose," said Owls' heads coach Seamus Mc Williams. Temple freshman goalkeeper Jackie Mauro recorded 4 saves and the Knights sophomore goalkeeper Megan McDonnell recorded 13 saves.
Temple (1-0) will next travel to Nebraska to face Creighton on Friday September 7th at 7pm.
