PHILADELPHIA -- Back on the winning track, the Temple women's basketball team (10-8, 5-2 A-10) defeated the Fordham Rams (3-15, 1-6 A-10) 59-41 on January 24 at the Liacouras Center. Temple forced 26 turnovers while committing only nine and won the steals battle 12-4. For only the third time this season, the Owls out-rebounded their opponent (45-40).

The Owls led by as many as 12 in the first half and held a 29-21 advantage at halftime. Freshman forward Ari Moore, who exploded offensively, led the Owls with a career-high 12 points shooting 6-7 from the field all in the first half. Junior guard Stacey Smalls (eight points) and senior forward Athena Christoforakis (seven points, seven rebounds) were other key contributors for the home team. In the second stanza, the Owls went on a 14-1 run to expand their lead to 21 and never looked back.

Patty Williams and Monica Mack led the Rams with 10 points and Kyshawn Ruff led all rebounders with 12.

Next up for the Owls is a road trip to cross-town rival St. Joesph's on January 27, 2002. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
