TEMPLE DUO FALLS IN CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND OF HARVARD INVITATIONAL

PHILADELPHIA -- The Croatian duo of Danira Penic and Lara Ercegovic advanced to the championship round of the Harvard Invitational on January 27 before falling to Harvard's Sanja Bajin and Alexis Martire 8-2. The duo compiled a 3-1 record over the weekend, defeating a team from Boston University and two additional teams from Harvard.

In singles action, Penic advanced to the quarterfinal round of the invitational after defeating Arden Fredeking of Dartmouth 6-1, 6-0. Later, Penic fell to Allison Ashley of Boston College 7-6, 6-7, 4-6 in the quarterfinal round. Ercegovic was eliminated in the second round of the tournament after losing to Nida Wasem of Boston College 6-7, 4-6. Newcomer to the Owls Laura Verral also fell in the second round when she was defeated by Sarah McGinty of Harvard 2-6, 1-6.

Next up for the Owls is a road trip to face William and Mary on Sunday, February 3, 2002.
