Amore (6-0, 180) booted every punt for the Owls as a true freshman in 2001. In 11 games he punted 73 times for 2,776 yards (38.0 avg.), including 13 punts inside the 20 and 12 that resulted in fair catches. Against Toledo on September 8, Amore connected on a season-best 62-yard punt.
Carpenter (6-5, 250) played in all 11 games and made seven starts for the Owls as a true freshman in 2001. He had eight receptions for 71 yards (8.9 avg.) and one touchdown while returning one kickoff for 10 yards. Carpenter's scoring grab came on a six-yard pass reception at Bowling Green on September 22.
Temple posted a 4-7 record in 2001, including a 2-5 mark in Big East Conference play to finish sixth in the eight-team league. The Owls concluded the season with a two-game win streak. Of the seven teams Temple lost to, all concluded their respective seasons with winning records, posting a combined mark of 63-21 (.750). Six were invited to bowl games and five earned victories.
The Big East Conference produced the best postseason winning percentage (4-1, .800) of any Bowl Championship Series (BCS) conference.
National signing day for NCAA Division I-A football is Wednesday, February 6.
