VIETRY NAMED ATLANTIC 10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Freshman forward Samantha Vietry of the Temple University women's soccer team was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 6, 2002. This past week, Vietry helped the Owls notch two Atlantic 10 wins against Fordham (10/4) and La Salle (10/6).

Vietry scored the first goal in the Owls 3-2 victory over the Rams on Friday, October 6, 2002 and later had an assist on sister Stephanie's game winning goal in the second period. In Temple's 3-1 win over La Salle on Sunday, October 6, 2002, Vietry scored two goals including the game-winner after catching a pass from sister Stephanie for a 30 yard shot into the net.

Combined, identical twins Samantha and Stephanie Vietry have scored 11 of Temple's 19 goals this season.

The Cherry and White, under the direction of nine- year head coach Seamus McWilliams, are on the road this weekend where they will face St. Bonaventure on 10/11 and Duquesne on 10/13.
