11.3.02 | Women's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA--On a cold and blustery day, the Temple University women's soccer team (8-12-0, 3-8 A-10) lost to Xavier University 3-1 this afternoon, November 3, 2002 at Temple Stadium.

The Musketeers were on the board early when Tracy Veith booted a 40 yard shot over the head of Owls goalie Jeanette Hibbs. Xavier scored again towards the end of the half when Lauren Giesting scored on a breakaway shot down the left side of the field, giving Xavier the 2-0 advantage entering halftime.

In the second period, Temple was credited with a goal after several Xavier players accidently headed the ball into Temple's net and making the score 2-1. Xavier sealed the win in the lat two minutes of the game when Nicole Geisting scored on a 15 yard shot to the right of the net past a diving Owls goalie.

Before the game, the Temple women's soccer team honored their seniors who include Bethany O'Brein, Stephanie Godsell, Lisa Jakubowicz, Brenda Gore, Denise Mondelli, Cameron Jennings and Jeanette Hibbs.

The Cherry and White, under the direction of nine-year Head Coach Seamus McWilliams, finished the season with a 8-12 record overall and a 3-8 record in the Atlantic 10.
