LIMA PITCHES TEMPLE SOFTBALL TO TWO VICTORIES AT TRIANGLE CLASSIC

The Owls opened the tournament with a 15-4 win over Radford. Lima surrendered only four hits to earn a complete game win. Outfielder Lynsey Grace went three for four and belted two doubles. Freshman Aida Esquer hit a home run in her first collegiate game.
Unfortunately, Temple followed the victory with a 12-0 shut out at the hands of Illinois as the Owls could manage only three hits. Liz Naughton was tagged with the loss.
The Owls rebounded, playing well versus Boston University but coming up short in the end, dropping a 4-3 decision to the Terriers in 10 innings. Bari Lynn Plfueger went two for four with two RBI's in the defeat.
Temple got back into the win column versus Elon College. Katie Wiegle and Chrissy Pearson each had three hits to help lead the Owls to a 12-6 win. Pflueger hit a grand slam and knocked in five runs on the afternoon as Lima earned her second victory, working 3.1 innings without surrendering a run.
Temple concluded the tournament with an 8-0 loss to UNC-Charlotte. The Owls could muster only two hits while committing four errors in five innings.
Temple, under the direction of fifth-year head coach Rocci Pignoli, returns to action at the Pirate Classic, held in Greenville, N.C., February 22-24.
