TEMPLE SOFTBALL COMES UP SHORT AGAINST UMASS

The Temple softball team (9-20, 0-3 A-10) dropped a 9-0 decision to Massachusetts on Sunday, March 24 at Erny Field. The loss gives the Minutewomen a sweep of the three-game series that opened the Owls' conference season. UMass out-scored Temple 20-1 in the three game set.

Although the Temple offense was able to generate seven hits against tough UMass pitching on Sunday, the Owls were unable to deliver in the clutch, stranding nine runners. Katie Weigle led the Cherry & White with two hits.

The Minutewomen belted 12 hits and had three, three-run innings to earn the victory.

Bari Lynn Pfueger was tagged with the loss, giving up six earned runs in six innings of work.

Temple returns to action Friday and Saturday, March 29-30, with a three-game set against cross-town rival St. Joseph's in Norristown, Pa.
