4.14.02 | Softball

The Temple (19-20, 9-3 A-10) softball team beat Fordham 8-0 on Sunday, April 14, in Bronx, N.Y., sweeping the three game series and extending Temple's win streak to ten games. The loss drops Fordham's Atlantic 10 record to 1-11.

Fordham had no answers for junior pitcher Liz Naughton, who threw all seven innings of the contest. Naughton struck out nine Rams and gave up only two hits in pitching the shutout.

Offensively, eight Owls tallied 12 hits in the game. Junior Chrissy Harris continued her barrage at the plate, going two for four with a double. Also hitting .500 on the day were sophomore Lynsey Grace (two for four, double, 1 RBI), senior Alexis Pena (two for four, triple, 3 RBIs), and freshman Aida Esquer (two for four).

Sophomore Alexis Gary added a home run and freshman Linsey Rummel poked a pinch-hit single in her first at bat of the year.

Next up for the Owls, a non-conference game against local rival Villanova, Wednesday, 4:00 p.m., at Erny Field.
