RAHEEM BROCK DRAFTED BY PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Temple senior defensive end Raheem Brock (6-3, 267) will not have to travel far to his first National Football League mini camp. The Philadelphia native, who attended Dobbins High School, was selected in the seventh round (238th pick overall) of the NFL Draft by the Eagles on Sunday, April 21, 2002. Brock becomes the second Temple player to be picked by the Birds in the NFL Draft, following linebacker Mike Curcio, who was selected in the eighth round by Philadelphia in 1981.

Brock's father, Zachary Dixon, was selected in the 11th round of the NFL Draft by Denver out of Temple in 1979. Dixon ranks ninth in the Temple record books with 1,522 career rushing yards.

Brock is the 25th Owl to be selected in the NFL Draft since 1970. In 2001, the Pittsburgh Steelers chose offensive tackle Mathias Nkwenti in the fourth round.

PERSONAL: Born June 10, 1978 ... Business management major ... Son of Zachary Dixon and Patricia Brock ... Brock's father was the Owls' leading rusher in 1978 with 1,153 yards and is one of just seven Temple RBs to top the 1,000-yard mark since the program joined the NCAA major division in 1971 ... He ranks ninth on the list of Temple's career rushing leaders with 1,522 yards.
