NAUGHTON AND GRACE RECEIVE ATLANTIC 10 CONFERENCE SOFTBALL HONORS

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple junior Liz Naughton (Olyphant, Pa./Mid-Valley H.S.) was today named the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week and teammate sophomore Lynsey Grace (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford H.S.) the Player of the Week. The duo starred in Temple's first A-10, three-game series sweep consisting of all shutouts, as the Owls blanked St. Bonaventure (8-0, 8-0, 3-0) this past weekend, April 27-28 at Erny Field.

Naughton picked up two of the three shutout victories versus the Bonnies, striking out 17 batters in 12 innings en route to her second A-10 Pitcher of the Week honor this season. She allowed just five hits, no runs and walked just one batter, holding SBU to a .119 batting average. Naughton has six shutout victories, compiling a 9-9 record and a 2.42 ERA this season.

Grace hit .833 for the week, going 5-for-6 at the plate with two home runs, six runs scored and six RBI's. She had a .889 on base percentage. Grace smacked a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to give the Owls a 3-0 win over St. Bonaventure on Sunday, April 28. She is batting .308 this season.

The Owls (24-22, 13-5 A-10) go on the road for a three game series at Dayton, May 3-4 in the final Atlantic 10 regular-season series this year.
