WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM 2002- THE NEXT CLASS
5.29.02 | Women's Soccer
Amanda Anderson (Philadelphia, Pa/Nazareth Academy High School) will be a defender for the Owls in 2002. Anderson was her high school team captain in 2001, attended the Keystone State Games in 1997 and 1999 and is a member of the Philadelphia Soccer Club. According to Coach McWilliams, "Amanda has speed, intensity and an ability to close down attacking opponents. Her strength at the marking back position adds to an already tenacious defensive core."
Jaclyn Conn (Morton, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) will play defense and midfield for the Owls next season. As a senior, Conn served as team captain and was named MVP. She was a three-time member of both the All-Catholic team and the All-Delco Team and she played for the Downingtown Soccer Club. Coach McWilliams states "Jaclyn will make an immediate impact on the program in many ways. Her enthusiasm for the game and clear first class ability and experience made Temple a better program when she signed."
Patricia "Trish" Dalton (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington High School) will be a defender for the Owls in the upcoming season. Dalton's accomplishments include Rookie of the Year honors in 1998, an All Suburban One League selection and she was a member of the 2001-2002 National Champion Under 17 team. Dalton was also in the Pennsylvania State Olympic Development Program for five years and played for the Parkwood Soccer Club. " When people in this business talk about a blue chip prospect, Trish fits the definition to a T," Coach McWilliams said. She brings a complete game with her and plays the game with maturity, confidence and has the instincts of a seasoned college player. There is no doubt Trish will change the game for us immediately."
Courtney Fritz (Lansdale, Pa/North Penn High School) will play forward for the Owls in 2002. Fritz served as team captain as a senior and plays Soccer for the Montgomery Soccer Association. According to Coach McWilliams, "Courtney plays the game at the forward position with style and has the uncanny ability to know where to be prior to the ball being played. Her mature approach and understanding of the game brings added depth and quality to the program."
Rounding out "the next class" will be identical twins Samantha and Stephanie Vietry (Cranston, Rhode Island/Cranston High West). Samantha will play primarily in the defender position for the Owls while Stephanie will play forward. Both play for the Rhode Island Rays Premier Soccer Club and were co-captains of the their high school team as seniors. "Samantha and Stephanie are two of the most exciting prospects to attend Temple in many years, "Coach McWilliams said. Sam is known to bring "all of it" to the game and Steph is known to bring "the rest of it." Both girls will enrich an already improved program in 2002."
