No. 19 TEMPLE DOWNS DUQUESNE 16-3 TO ADVANCE TO ATLANTIC 10 FINAL

Pittsburgh, Pa. -- The Temple lacrosse team (13-4, 7-0) topped host Duquesne (6-10, 4-3) 16-4 on Friday, May 3 at Rooney Field to advance to the finals of the 2002 Verizon Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Championship. The Owls opened the scoring when senior Robin Keevan (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) tallied the first of her three goals with 28:45 remaining in the first half. Temple continued the offensive pressure and held a 9-0 halftime advantage. The Owls then outscored the Dukes 7-4 down the stretch to seal the victory.

Senior Noelle Cebron (Yorktown, N.Y./Yorktown) and Keevan who were recently named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference team led Temple in scoring with five points apiece (Cebron 4 goals, 1 assist/Keevan 3 goals, 2 assists). Junior Patience Synnestvedt (Bryn Athyn, Pa./Academy of the New Church) notched four goals while sophomore Tiffany Pulaski (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) added two goals. Juniors Deanna Radcliffe (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) with a goal and two assists and Liz Frengs (Collingswood, N.J./Collingswood) one goal and one assist rounded out the scoring for the Owls. Junior goalie Sheena Oommen (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park) was stellar in the cage with 13 saves.

Ginger Flocco led Duquesne with two goals. Lauren Mincher (1 goal, 1 assist), Lauren Dutch (1 goal) and Christi Madden (1 assist) also made an impact on the scoring column. Goalkeeper Shelly rank had 11 saves for the Dukes.

Temple will now defend its Atlantic 10 title against Richmond (12-5, 6-1) a 9-5 winner over Massachusetts (8-8, 5-2) in the other semifinal match-up. Game time is 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.
