Burlington, Vermont-- Thanks to the stellar collegiate soccer debut of freshman Stephanie Vietry (Cranston, R.I./Cranston High West), the Temple University women's soccer team (1-0, 0-0 A-10) won their season opener 2-1 over the University of Vermont (0-1) in the first day of the Adidas/Vermont Soccer Classic, August 31, 2002.

Just nine minutes later Vietry scored again with an assist from sophomore Christine McInaw (Maple Glenn, Pa/Upper Dublin) on a breakaway

Sophomore goalie Jackie Mauro (Philadelphia, Pa/ArchBishop Ryan) notched six saves in 90 minutes in the net.
