The Temple University Department of Athletics held its annual football media day today (Wednesday, August 7, 2002) at the Edberg-Olson Hall football facility. The 2002 edition of Owls' football, 100 players strong plus coaches and support staff, proceeded through a series of photo stations before meeting with the media on the field at 2:30 p.m.

During the day's festivities, the team released the names of the 2002 captains. After a players' vote that surfaced 18 candidates, four seniors received the honor. The captains are DB Jairo Almonte, DL Dan Klecko, CB Terrance Leftwich and OT Dave Yovanovits.

Temple, under the direction of fifth-year head coach Bobby Wallace, holds its first, full-squad practice tomorrow (Thursday, August 8) at 7:00 a.m. The Owls will also have an afternoon practice at 5:00 p.m. The team has already held three days of practices with the newcomers, who reported to camp on Friday, August 2. The returning players checked-in Tuesday (August 6) afternoon.

All of Temple's preseason practices will take place at the Geasey Field site, located on 15th Street, behind McGonigle Hall.
