WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO NEW HAMPSHIRE 1-0

BURLINGTON, Vermont -- The Temple University women's soccer team (1-1, 0-0 A-10)lost to the University of New Hampshire 1-0 on Sunday afternoon September 1 in the second round of the Adidas/Vermont Soccer Classic.

New Hampshire junior Ana Tobon slipped the ball under keeper Jackie Mauro (Philadelphia, Pa/Archbishop Ryan) to score early in the first period. Temple had a chance to tie the game later in the period after being awarded a penalty kick on a UNH handball. Senior Jeannette Hibbs (Philadelphia, Pa/St. Hubert's) kick went wide and the Owls were unable to score.

Mauro played all 90 minutes in goal and posted eight saves, boosting her two day

total to 14 saves.

After the game, three Owls were named to the Adidas/Vermont Soccer Classic All-Tournament Team including senior defender Brenda Gore,sophomore goalie Jackie Mauro and freshman forward Stephanie Vietry. Mauro was the tournament's top goalkeeper with 14 saves

and Vietry the leading scorer with two goals.

The Owls return to action on September 6 when they face Robert Morris at the Niagra

Invitational in Niagra, N.Y.
