9.11.02 | Women's Soccer

Loudenville, N.Y.-- A corner kick by freshman Courtney Fritz just a minute into the first overtime secured the win for the Temple University women's soccer team (3-2, 0-0 A-10) over the Siena Saints today, September 10, 2002.

Temple opened the scoring in the 33rd minute of play when sophomore forward Melissa Foley had a 15 yard shot down the center of the field that found the back of the net past Siena goalie Noel Com. Siena answered back five minutes later on a goal by Katie Ferry.

The second period remained scoreless as the two teams matched each other shot for shot and forcing the game into overtime. One minute into the overtime, with an assist from freshman defender Trish Dalton, Fritz found the net to win the game for the Owls.

Freshman Jackie Mauro played all 91 minutes in goal and posted three saves.

The Owls are back in action Sunday, September 15 when they face North Carolina State. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
