WOMEN'S SOCCER LOSES TO No.16 VIRGINIA 8-1

Charlottesville, N.C.--The Temple women's soccer team (5-4) lost to No. 16 Virginia 8-1 this evening, September 25, 2002.

Virginia's offense proved no match for the Owls as the Cavaliers scored five goals in the first period and 3 goals in the second. The Owls scored their lone goal in the second period when freshman Stephanie Vietry caught a pass from sophomore Courtney Eaton and shot the ball past a diving Virginia goalie.

The Owls were also led by goalie Jackie Mauro who posted 12 saves.

Temple opens the Atlantic 10 portion of their schedule on Friday, September 27, 2002 when they face Saint Joseph's. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
