Ari Moore led all scorers with 15 points and grabbed a career-high-tying nine rebounds for the Owls. Senior Stacey Smalls added 12 points for the victors. Candice Dupree led Temple with 11 rebounds.
Beth Ann Dickinson paced Fordham with 14 points. Mobolaji Akiode added 11 points and Kyshawn Ruff had 11 rebounds for the Rams.
Fordham jumped out to a 17-11 lead before consecutive baskets by Mercedes Miller cut the Ram lead to two. The Rams answered with a pair of Patty Williams free throws to bring the score to 19-15 at the 7:02 mark of the first period. Owens sparked a 13-2 Temple run with 11 points in a span of less than five minutes. She capped the run with a three-point basket before the Owls and Rams traded baskets to close the half with a 30-23 Temple advantage.
Christena Hamilton scored the first five points after intermission as Temple built its lead to 40-24, the largest margin of the game, at the 15:42 mark. Fordham slowly chipped away at the lead but would not come closer than six points in the remainder of the contest.
Temple converted on 10 of 14 attempts from the foul line in the game's final two minutes to seal the victory.
The Owls return to action on Sunday, January 26, as they host Saint Josephs's at the Liacouras Center. Game time is set for noon.
