WOMEN'S SOCCER LOSES TO LA SALLE, 4-0

PHILADELPHIA- The Temple women's soccer team lost to cross-town rival La Salle, 4-0, on Sunday, October 12 at McCarthy Stadium. The Owls remain scoreless in their first five Atlantic 10 Conference matches.

La Salle's first goal came with about ten minutes remaining in the first half. Freshman forward Ashley Cassel sent the ball to senior forward Krista Lee, who nailed the ball into the far left corner of the goal. At the 63:15 minute mark junior midfielder Rachael Tobin passed the ball to senior defender Courtney White for the shot. Temple's goalkeeper, junior Jackie Mauro, dove unsuccessfully for the save as the ball slid past her. Nearly five minutes later, sophomore defender Erin McNulty connected with Cassel for the third goal of the game. Cassel accepted the ball in front of the goal and hammered a shot into the back of the net. At the 85:20 mark the Explorers scored their final goal on a corner kick. Junior midfielder Jessica Eisele picked up the assist as she sent the ball into the box, where sophomore midfielder Anne Shovlin headed the ball into the goal.

In goal for the Owls, Mauro registered five saves in 75:20 minutes of play. Temple's freshman goaltender, Elizabeth Tarasevich, spent 14:40 minutes in goal and recorded two saves.

La Salle goalkeeper sophomore Marisa Suarez posted five saves in her first shut-out victory of the season.

The Owls (2-10-1, 0-5 A-10) will next play St. Bonaventure on Friday, October 17 at 2:30 p.m. at Temple Stadium.
