CONN SCORES GAME-WINNER TO LEAD WOMEN'S SOCCER TO DOUBLE OVERTIME VICTORY

10.17.03 | Women's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore defender Jaclyn Conn knocked the game-winning shot into the net with two minutes remaining in the second overtime period to lead the Temple women's soccer team to its first Atlantic 10 Conference victory of the season against St. Bonaventure. The Owls defeated the visiting Bonnies, 1-0, in double overtime on Friday, October 17 at Temple Stadium.

Following a scoreless regulation and one full overtime period, the Owls scored their first and only goal of the game at the two minute mark of the second overtime period. Although the Owls and Bonnies played an evenly matched game, Temple took advantage of a corner kick late in the second overtime period. Sophomore defender Trish Dalton nailed the ball across the field and into the box from the corner. Conn met the ball in the middle of the box and sent a header into the back of the net to end the game

Temple goalie junior Jackie Mauro recorded three saves in 108 minutes of play, while St. Bonaventure goalie Lisa Eberhart registered four saves.

The Owls (3-10-1, 1-5 A-10) will next be in action against the Duquesne Dukes on Sunday, October 19 at Temple Stadium.
