10.26.03 | Women's Soccer

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Temple women's soccer team fell to George Washington University, 2-0, on Sunday, October 26, 2003.

The Colonials first stuck in the third minute of play as sophomore midfielder Lisa Backman sent the ball to senior forward Kim Warner in the box. Warner accepted the pass, dodged Temple goalkeeper junior Jackie Mauro, and netted the first goal of the game. George Washington waited until the 82:55 minute mark to score its second and final goal of the game. Warner picked up the ball and sent an unassisted shot into the corner of the net. With her pair of goals against the Owls, Warner has notched 12 goals this season and sits tied with Rhode Island's Melanie Kasparek for most goals scored in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

In goal Mauro recorded nine saves, while George Washington's goalkeeper Anna Handzlik registered two saves.

The Owls play their final two games of the season next weekend at Temple Stadium. Temple takes on Massachusetts on Friday, October 31 and Rhode Island on Sunday, November 2.
