WOMEN'S SOCCER DROPS SEASON FINALE, 3-1, TO RHODE ISLAND

Rhode Island, boasting an aggressive offensive unit, scored its first goal eleven minutes into the first half. Junior midfielder Claire Landon sent the ball into an open space in front of the goal. Senior forward Sarah Johnston met the ball, dodged Temple goalkeer junior Jackie Mauro, and sent the ball across the line into the corner of the goal.
The Rams came out strong in the second half, netting two more goals before the Owls scored one. Slightly over five minutes into the second half, Landon again found an open teammate. Landon sent a pass to sophomore forward Melanie Kasparek waiting at the top of the box. Kasparek made a few quick moves and hammered the ball into the net for the finish. Nearly twelve minutes later sophomore forward Molly Bergren sent a free kick across the top of the six yard box. and Landon stepped out of the crowd, met the ball, and nailed it into the back of the net.
The Owls got on the board in the 88th minute of play as senior midfielder Johanna Yemm sent a free kick high into the box. Freshman midfielder Katie Louth found the ball in the air and sent a header into the net.
In goal for the Owls, Mauro recorded one save in 63:58 minutes of play, while freshman Elizabeth Tarasevich registered three saves in 26:02 minutes of play. Rams goaltender Kirsten Marr played the full 90:00 minutes without a save.
Prior to the start of the contest, Interim Coach David Jones honored seniors Sara Meehan and Johanna Yemm with a short ceremony.
