WILDCATS SHOOT DOWN OWLS IN WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TO CLAIM BIG FIVE TITLE

PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore center Candice Dupree scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds yet the Temple women's basketball team fell to Villanova 66-57 on December 19 at the Liacouras Center. With the win, the Wildcats claim their second straight Philadelphia Big Five Title.

Junior guard Cynthia Jordan was the only other Owl to score in double figures with 10 points. Jordan was also Temple's second leading rebounder with five boards and led the Owls in blocks with two.

Liad Suez led Villanova with 19 points and was 5-10 from three-point range. Jenna Viani (11 points) also scored in double figures for the Wildcats.

While Temple held the edge in field goal shooting , 47 percent to 42 percent, Villanova had the advantage in steals (7-5), rebounds (32-29), three-point shooting (39% to 33%) and turnovers (VU 10, TU 12). Each team had 14 assists and Temple had four blocks to Villanova's three.

Next up for the Owls is a road trip to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to face the LSU Tigers on Monday, December 22. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
