12.8.03 | Football
Temple redshirt freshman Ryan Gore has been named to the 2003 The Sporting News Big East Conference All-Freshman Team. Gore, who played safety, linebacker and on special teams for the Owls this past season, was named to the squad as a defensive back.
Gore (6-0, 205) played in all 12 games and made 16 tackles (nine solo).
Originally recruited as a running back, Gore was moved to strong safety in the spring. He concluded the 2003 campaign as a member of the Owls' linebacking corps. A top special teams performer, Gore also made a name for himself in the weight room, where he recorded a 400-pound bench press in strength and conditioning testing.
A 2002 graduate of George Washington High School in Philadelphia, Gore was a First Team All-City selection by both the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News as a senior in 2001. He played in the 2002 PNC Big 33 Classic.
