TEMPLE ANNOUNCES 2003 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

Temple begins its 105th season of collegiate football at Big Ten powerhouse Penn State on Saturday, Aug. 30 before hosting city rival Villanova in the home opener on Saturday, September 6. After a bye week, the Owls travel to Conference USA members Cincinnati (Sept. 20) and Louisville (Sept. 27) before landing in Murfreesboro, Tenn. to take on the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders (Oct. 4).
Four of Temple's seven Big East Conference games will take place in the City of Brotherly Love. The Owls host Boston College (Oct. 11), Rutgers (Oct. 25), Virginia Tech (Nov. 15) and Pittsburgh (Nov. 22). Temple takes flight for three league contests, travelling to Miami (Oct. 18), Syracuse (Nov. 8) and West Virginia (Nov. 29).
The eight bowl participants on Temple's 2003 schedule are Miami (lost to Ohio State 31-24 in OT in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Championship Game), Boston College (defeated Toledo 51-25 in the Motor City Bowl), Penn State (lost to Auburn 13-9 in the Capital One Bowl), Cincinnati (lost to North Texas 24-19 in the New Orleans Bowl), Pittsburgh (defeated Oregon State 38-13 in the Insight Bowl), Louisville (lost to Marshall 38-15 in the GMAC Bowl), West Virginia (lost to Virginia 48-22 in the Continental Tire Bowl) and Virginia Tech (defeated Air Force 20-13 in the Diamond Walnut San Francisco Bowl).
