3.2.03 | Women's Basketball
Junior Tynecia Pam led all scorers with a career-high 15 points on 4-5 (80 percent) shooting from the field and 7-9 (78 percent) shooting from the free throw line. On the defensive end of the floor, Pam recorded all three Temple blocked shots in the game. Sophomore forward Ari Moore (13 points) was the only other Owl to score in double figures. Moore also led Temple in rebounding with seven boards while senior guard Stacey Smalls led the Owls in assists (4) and steals (4).
Kyshawn Ruff led the Rams in both scoring (12 points) and rebounding (11 rebounds). Monica Mack also scored in double figures for Fordham.
Despite committing 13 turnovers in the first half, the Owls held a 24-17 advantage at halftime. In the second stanza, Temple took much better care of the basketball as it had just two turnovers while forcing six from the Rams. Fordham stayed in the game mainly through second chance points where it held a 14-8 edge and free throw shooting as the Rams made 10-11 in the second half. Temple's bench was huge in the game, especially Pam and Chrissy Cruz, who scored eight points, helping the Owls to a 30-10 advantage in bench scoring.
Temple, who has earned a first round bye in the Atlantic 10 Championship as the second place team in the A-10 East, will face the winner of the St. Bonaventure vs. Richmond game in the opening round. The Owls will tip-off at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7 at the Ryan Center on the campus of Rhode Island.
