WOMEN'S TENNIS PULLS OUT 4-3 WIN OVER BROWN

PHILADELPHIA -- In a battle to the finish, the Temple University Women's Tennis team defeated Brown University 4-3 this afternoon, February 23, 2003.

Freshman Mia Marovic, playing in the No. 1 singles spot, defeated Victoria Beck 6-1 before Beck forfeited the match due to injury, giving the win to the Owls. Junior Danira Penic beat Yelena Klurfeld 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 while Lara Ercegovic defeated Kerry Meeth 6-2, 6-1. Freshman Ana Maslesa easily defeated Stephanie Falconi 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles spot. Lauren Verrall and Laura Seiverling dropped their matches in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions.

Doubles partners Ercegovic and Marovic were the lone Owls pair to grab a victory defeating the Brown pair of Alex Arlak and Kerry Meeth 8-4.

Next up for the Cherry and White is a road trip to State College, Pa where they take on the Nittany Lions and American University on Saturday March 1, 2003.
