WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: TEMPLE'S SMALLS AND DUPREE EARN A-10 ALL CONFERENCE HONORS

PHILADELPHIA- Senior guard Stacey Smalls and freshmen center Candice Dupree of the Temple women's basketball team earned 2003 Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors. Smalls was named to the A-10 All-Conference Second Team and to the All-Defensive Team. Dupree was named to the 2003 A-10 All-Rookie Team.

Smalls started in all 27 games for the Owls, leading the team in scoring (13.3), assists (2.8), free throw percentage 74 percent (66-of-89), three-point field goals made (49), and minutes played (35.4). The Cheltenham, Pa. native scored in double figures in 20 of the 27 games and 12 of the last 13. One of the top players in the program's history, she finished the regular season as the eighth leading scorer in Temple history with 1,227 points.

Dupree started all 18 games she appeared in before suffering a foot injury on Feb.1. She pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds, scored 15 points and had six blocks in her college debut at Penn on Nov.23. the Tampa Florida native scored a career-high 23 points and had seven rebounds at nationally ranked Boston College on Dec 12. Dupree had double-figures in points or rebounds in 11 of 18 games this season. She led the Owls in rebounding (7.6), blocks (25) and also ranked second on the team in scoring (10.4) and minutes played (30.8).

Temple(13-14,9-7;A-10) is the second seed in the A-10 East and will play the winner of the , March 6, 2p.m. game between Richmond and St. Bonaventure on Friday, March 7 at 2p.m. in Kingston, Rhode Island at the Ryan Center (7,571).
