WOMEN'S TENNIS LOSES HEARTBREAKER TO XAVIER

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple University Women's Tennis team (4-5) lost a tough match to the Xavier Musketeer this afternoon, March 29, 2003 at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center in Manaunk. The injury plaqued Owls lost the match 4-3, dropping their record to 4-5.

In the No. 1 singles spot, freshman Mia Marovic had a straight set 6-4, 6-4 victory over Lauren Clary while freshman Ana Maslesa defeated Steph Baver 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles position. Also pulling out a 6-4, 6-2 straight set victory was Laura Seiverling in the No. 5 singles spot. Sophomore Rene Deyzel fell to Kristen Clary 2-6, 0-6 at the No. 3 singles spot while Lauren Verrall lost in the No. 4 singles spot.

The duo of Marovic and Verrall pulled out an 8-6 victory over Clary and Baver in the No. 1 doubles position.

The Owls are on the road tomorrow, March 30 to face the Princeton Tigers. Match time is a 1:00 p.m.
