4.10.03 | Women's Soccer
According to McWilliams " Speed, size, ability, leadership, experience, strong academic credentials and an unquestioned passion for the game are just a few principles that this class brings to the program," he said. " There is no doubt this is one of the finest recruiting classes ever and they will help bring this program to yet another level," McWilliams added.
Kamille Edwards, a native of Parsippany, N.J., will play defense for the Owls in 2003. She is a Region II High School All-American, an All-State and All-County honoree and was a three time All-Conference selection. "Kamille brings speed and strength to our team," said McWilliams. "We are also looking for her to bring her competitive personality to help an already competitive team."
Elena Hekimian, from Columbia, Maryland, will be one of the three new midfielders for the Owls in the upcoming season. Hekimian is a four-year starter who was the leading scorer and two-year team captain in high school. According to McWilliams, Helimian has a distinctive style of play. " Elena will add her composed, designed style of play to our outside midfield. She has speed, skill and a gift of finishing a play with a stealth like shooting precision accuracy," said McWIlliams.
Kelly Ane Lare, a native of Warminister, Pa., will be a forward for the Owls in 2003. A student at Archbishop Wood High School, Lare holds the scoring record in a season (25 goals/9assists) and leads the Philadelphia Catholic League and Region in goals. She served as the team captain and received both player of the week and player of the month honors. According to McWilliams, "Clearly, Kelly knows how to score goals and she will get the opportunity to display her goal scoring abilities in 2003."
Elizabeth Tarasevich, a native of Wakefield, Rhode Island, will be a goalkeeper for the Owls. She was a two-year starter and the state leader in goals against average. Her high school team was two-time Division One Champion from 2000-2002 and a state finalist in 2002. " Liz brings instant quality and experience to our team," said McWilliams.
Christina Brunach, from Suwannee, Georgia, will also play defense for the Owls in 2003. Braunach's high school team is ranked 10th in the nation and is a two-time state champion. "Christina brings championship experience and national recognition to an already successful recruiting class," said McWilliams.
Katie Louth from North Kingston, Rhode Island will play in the midfield for the Owls in the coming season. She was team MVP and captain in 2002 and received All-Division honors. According to McWilliams, " Katie's ability to play in the middle of the field and handle pressure from attacking players is only one of the aspects she will bring to this program."
