WOMEN'S TENNIS PICKS UP TWO WINS AGAINST UMASS AND GEORGE WASHINGTON

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple University Women's Tennis team picked up two wins this weekend when they defeated Massachusetts 4-3 and George Washington 5-2 to improve their record to 7-6 going into this weekends Atlantic 10 Championships in College Park, Maryland.
In the Owls 4-3 victory over Umass on Friday, junior Danira Penic and freshman Mia Marvoic pulled out straight set victories in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots respectively. Freshman Ana Maslesa defeated Camilla Knight in the No. 3 singles spots 6-1, 6-3. Sophomore Rene Deyzel, Lauren Verrall and Laura Seiverling lost their singles matches in the No. 4, 5 and 6 singles spots respectively. In doubles action, the duo of Pennic and Maslesa defeated Stephanie Price and Jafra Depontes 9-8 while the duo of Seiverling and Deyzel won in the No. 3 position 8-5.
In the Owls 5-2 win over George Washington, Penic, Maslesa and Marvoic again pulled out singles victories. Freshman Laura Seiverling also defeated Samantha Fisher 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 6 singles spot. In doubles, the duo of Penic and Maslesa defeated Tracy Wei and Lindy First 8-2 while the pair of Marovic and Verrall defeated Nazil Gencsoy and Sevia Gonca 8-2.
Next up for the Owls is the Atlantic 10 Championships held this weekend April 19 in College Park, Maryland.
