SOFTBALL: EVANS AND GRASHAM EARN ATLANTIC 10 WEEKLY HONORS

Freshman pitcher Vicky Grasham (Tucson, AZ/Salpointe) and freshman thirdbaseman Lauren Evans (Mission Viejo, CA/Capistrano Valley) were both recognized by the Atlantic 10 today, April 14, for their performances in Temple's two game sweep of Dayton on Sunday, April 13. Grasham was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week, sharing the honors with Kelli Arnold of Massachusetts. Evans was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, along with Jill Clementi of St. Joseph's. This is the second consecutive week that Evans has been given the honor.

Grasham was 2-0 against the Flyers, earning the decision in both contests. In the Owls' first game against the Flyers, Grasham was called upon in relief of Temple starter Liz Naughton. Grasham finished the game, pitching two scoreless innings while allowing two hits, no walks and striking out one. Grasham started the nitecap, pitching the first five innings of the contest. She gave up only two hits, no walks, and struck out seven batters in Temple's 3-0 shutout.

Against the Flyers, Evans was 4-6 at the plate, boasting a .667 average for the day. She was 2-3 in game one with a double and a run scored. She was also 2-3 in the second game, helping the Owls take the two game series.

Next up for Temple, a conference doubleheader at St. Bonaventure on Saturday, April 19 at noon.
