DANIRA PENIC NAMED MOST OUTSTANDING TENNIS PERFORMER; MIA MAROVIC GARNERS MOST OUTSTANDING ROOKIE PERFORMER HONORS

At first singles, Penic led the Owls to victory at the 2003 Atlantic 10 Women's
Tennis Championship held at The Tennis Center in College Park, MD from April 17-19. Penic did not lose a singles set in the Championship, earning wins over Duquesne (6-1, 62), Richmond (6-0, 6-1), and Massachusetts (6-0, 6-2). Her efforts helped lead Temple to its first Atlantic 10 title since 1995. A native of Split, Croatia, Penic previously earned All-Conference honors in 2001.
Marovic garnered Rookie of the Year laurels for going unbeaten at second singles. Also from Split, the freshman picked up wins against Duquesne (6-1, 6-0), Richmond (6-3, 6-3), and Massachusetts 6-2, 6-1. Along with Penic, Marovic helped lead the Owls to the Atlantic 10 crown.
