WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS 4-0 TO WILLIAM AND MARY IN FIRST ROUND OF NCAA TOURNAMENT

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. -- The Temple University Women's Tennis team fell 4-0 to the College of William and Mary in the first round of the NCAA Tennis Tournament on Friday, May 9, 2003.

In the contest, freshman and Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Rookie Performer Mia Marovic lost 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles spot to #73 Megan Muth. Freshman Lauren Verrall lost 6-0, 6-0 to #112 Amy Wei in the No.4 singles spot while senior Rene Deyzel lost 6-0, 6-0 to Nina Kamp in the No. 5 singles spot.

In doubles action, the team of Deyzel and Laura Seiverling lost 8-0 in the No. 3 doubles spot while Marovic and Verrall lost 8-3 in the No. 2 doubles spot. That was all William and Mary would need to secure the win.

With the loss, the Owls saw their season come to a close. William and Mary went on to defeat South Alabama and advance to the sweet 16 of the tournament.
