LACROSSE TOPS ST. BONAVENTURE TO ADVANCE TO ATLANTIC 10 FINAL

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple lacrosse team (12-5, 7-0 A-10) withstood a late rally to beat St. Bonaventure (12-5, 3-4 A-10) 16-11 in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship. With the win the Owls advance to the Atlantic 10 finals where they will face UMass (11-6, 6-1), a 12-11 overtime winner over Richmond (10-7, 5-2).

Senior Deanna Radcliffe (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) and freshman Patty Glavin (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) each tallied seven points for Temple. Radcliffe set an Atlantic 10 Championship record with six goals and added an assist. Glavin had four goals and three assists. Junior Tiffany Pulaski (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) had two goals and two assists, senior Jessica Yemm (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) had three goals and freshman Nicole Cataldo (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) rounded out the Owls scoring with a goal.

Nicole Montondo led St. Bonaventure with four goals. Sarah Dressler and Laura Spalding each had two goals and two assists for the Bonnies.

Temple started fast, scoring its first goal when the game was just 57 seconds old. The Owls held a 10-4 halftime advantage and pushed its lead to 15-5 in the second half before St. Bonaventure outscored Temple 6-1 in the game's final 8:26.

The Owls will face UMass in the Atlantic 10 final on Saturday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m. at Geasey Field. UMass, who trailed Richmond 11-4 in the second half of its semifinal, came back to take the game in overtime 12-11. The winner of tomorrow's championship game will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
