SEAN DILLARD SIGNS NFL ROOKIE FREE AGENT CONTRACT WITH WASHINGTON REDSKINS

Temple wide receiver Sean Dillard (Stone Mountain, Ga./Redan HS) has signed a National Football League rookie free agent contract with the Washington Redskins. The signing brings the number of 2002 senior Owls poised to enter NFL camps to five. Defensive tackle Dan Klecko (fourth round, New England) and offensive tackle Dave Yovanovits (seventh round, New York Jets) were selected in the draft while defensive backs Terrance Leftwich (Miami Dolphins) and Jamal Wallace (Philadelphia Eagles) signed rookie free-agent deals.

Dillard joins former (1990-93) Temple standout offensive guard Tre Johnson on the Washington roster. There are 16 former Owls currently on NFL rosters.

Dillard (5-10, 185), concluded his collegiate career as the Owls' all-time reception leader (130), while finishing sixth all-time with 1,632 receiving yards. A walk-on track athlete in 1999, He quickly earned a scholarship and was a Second Team All-Big East selection in 2001 after making 51 receptions for 747 yards and three touchdowns. Dillard also returned punts, posting 30 returns for 263 yards (8.8 avg.). He set a Temple and tied a Big East record by returning nine punts in a game versus Connecticut in 2001.
