WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM POSTS FIRST WIN OF SEASON, 2-1, OVER ST. FRANCIS (PA)

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's soccer team (1-4) notched its first win of the season by defeating St. Francis (Pa.), 2-1. Interim coach David Jones guided the Owls from the sidelines in his first game with the team.
The Owls jumped on the board first with a header from sophomore Stephanie Vietry on an assist by Nyki Stroman. Late in the first half, St. Francis freshman Ashley Knowles evened the score by drilling a pass from junior Viviane Viller into the net. With only 3:07 remaining in the game, senior defender Johanna Yemm scored the game-winner off a pass from Vietry.
Temple keeper Jackie Mauro registered her first win of the season with six saves, while St. Francis keeper Melanie Stockman recorded three saves.
The Owls next face Drexel at Temple Stadium on September 17 at 4 p.m.
