WOMEN'S SOCCER TIES NIAGARA IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

Mauro led the Owls from the cage by saving 13 of 14 shots fired by the Purple Eagles. Mauro's only goal against came in the 72nd minute when sophomore Amber Niece took a feed from senior Allie Sahlen and drilled it into the net. With 2:01 remaining in the second half, Mauro sustained a game-ending injury following a barrage of Purple Eagle offensive activity. Freshman goaltender Elizabeth Tarasenevich replaced Mauro and held Niagara scoreless in two overtime periods. Tarasevich, who spent slightly over 22 minutes in the cage, recorded one save. Niagara's goaltender Katy Owings registered four saves in 110 minutes of play.
Temple scored its only goal less than fifteen minutes into the match as a result of an offensive drive by sophomore defender Trish Dalton. Dalton dribbled the ball into the scoring box and shot towards the goal cage. Niagara defender Stephanie Conley stepped into the line of fire and deflected the ball into the cage.
The Temple women's soccer team will next be in action on Monday September 29 at 4:00 when they take on cross-town rival St. Joseph's.
