WOMEN'S SOCCER DROPS A-10 OPENER TO SAINT JOSEPH'S
9.29.03 | Women's Soccer
Saint Joseph's jumped on the board early in the first half as senior Michelle Ford fed the ball to freshman Megan Schutt, who drilled it into the net, for the first score of the game. With fifteen minutes remaining in the second half, freshman Kaiti McCaffery found Schutt near cage. Schutt accepted McCaffery's pass and knocked it across the goal line for the score.
Sophomore Trish Dalton led the offensive effort with two of the team's six shots, both coming on goal. Defensively, freshman Elizabeth Tarasevich stepped into cage as the starting goalkeeper, replacing the team's normal starter, junior Jackie Mauro, who was out with an injury. Tarasevich registered three saves for the Owls.
Saint Joseph's goalkeeper Nicole DiEnna recorded three saves in the shutout victory.
The Owls play their second Atlantic 10 Conference game on Friday, October 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Dayton.
