CYNTHIA JORDAN LEADS A QUARTET OF DOUBLE FIGURE SCORERS AS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL RAMS RHODE ISLAND, 57-47

PHILADELPHIA - Junior guard Cynthia (C.J.) Jordan led a balanced offensive assault with 13 points as the Temple women's basketball team remained unbeaten in Atlantic 10 Conference play with a 57-47 win over Rhode Island on January 18 at the Liacouras Center.

Joining C.J. in double figures were junior forward Ari Moore with 12 points, freshman forward Kamesha Hairston with a career-high 11 points and freshman guard Britney (B.J.) Jordan rounded out the double digit scorers with 10. B.J. also had a career-high four steals to lead the Owls in that category. Sophomore center Candice Dupree, Temple's top scorer and rebounder coming into the game was held to single digits (six points) in the scoring column for just the third time all season. Dupree did have game-highs of nine rebounds and three blocks for the Owls.

Philly native Shayla Johnson led Rhode Island with a game-high 15 points. Denise King (13) and Tanya Rhodes (10) were the other double figure scorers for the Rams. Rhodes was Rhode Island's leading rebounder with six boards on the afternoon.

Temple (8-6, 4-0 A-10) held the edge in shooting (44 percent to 27 percent), rebounding (38-27), assists (14-6) and bloked shots (5-1). Rhode Island (9-7, 2-3 A-10), the conference leader in turnover margin, forced 27 Temple turnovers while committing 24. The Rams also were efficient from the free throw line, holding the advantage in that category, 88 percent to 56 percent.

Next up for the Owls is a non-conference make-up game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Wednesday, January 21 at 7:00 p.m. in New Brunswick, N.J. The game, which was originally scheduled for December 6, 2003, was postponed due to inclement weather.
