OWLS TAKE PART IN CITYWIDE PROGRAM; DISCOUNTED TICKETS AVAILABLE

FOR ANYONE WHO DROPS OFF BOOKS AT THE LIACOURAS CENTER FOR 1/28 GAME

Temple Basketball fans have the opportunity to support the Owls, as well as a citywide program to provide books to Philadelphia school kids at two exciting games at the Liacouras Center on Wednesday, January 28 at 7 p.m. versus St. Bonaventure and Saturday, January 31 at 4 p.m. when Temple battles Saint Joseph's. During these games, volunteers for the sixth annual Books Not Guns campaign will be collecting new and gently used books from fans. The books, which should be appropriate for children in kindergarten through third grade, will be distributed to students in Temple University's six partnership schools. In addition, patrons donating a book at the Box Office at the St. Bonaventure game will be able to purchase a reserved ticket for just $6 to catch the Owls in action; the Saint Joseph's game is a virtual sellout, so Temple is urging those fans of both schools already holding tickets to bring books to the game.

"This is a great way for our fans to support such a worthwhile program," said Bill Bradshaw, Temple's Director of Athletics. "Plus, although we are obviously encouraging all patrons who already have tickets to bring new or used books, it is a way for college basketball fans across the Philadelphia area to check out a great game for as low as $6 on January 28th."

The Books Not Guns campaign is led by 1997 alumnus and former Temple University Student Government President Chuck Williams, who is currently a doctoral student in the University's educational psychology program.

Tickets for Temple Basketball at $10, $15, $20, $26 and $35 are available at the Liacouras Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations throughout the Delaware Valley. Tickets can also be charged by phone by calling Ticketmaster at (215) 336-2000, (856) 338-9000 or (302) 984-2000. Temple Basketball offers a family four-pack, which includes four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for just $40 by calling 215-204-5040. For information about special group discounts, patrons may call 215-204-6710 or 215-389-9543.
