PHILADELPHIA - The women's basketball record crowd of 5,101 made up largely of children from across the Delaware Valley, did not go away disappointed as senior guard Christena Hamilton led Temple to a 61-43 victory over Fordham on January 6 at the Liacouras Center.

Hamilton scored a game-high tying 14 points. She was joined in double figures by sophomore center Candice Dupree with 12 points and nine rebounds. Seniors Toni Belafonte and Tynecia Pam had nine points apiece. Pam also had nine rebounds and three steals on the afternoon.

Monica Mack led Fordham with 14 points and was joined in double figures by Beth Ann Dickinson (12 points) and Lauren Fleischer (10 points). Stacey Price led all rebounders with 11 boards.

Playing its first Atlantic 10 Conference game, Temple (5-6, 1-0 A-10) dominated nearly every statistical category, holding the edge in rebounds (42-32), steals (13-12) and turnovers, forcing 26 while committing 18. While the Owls had the advantage in overall shooting (41 percent to 30 percent), Fordham (6-5, 0-1 A-10) was better from three-point range (43 percent to 10 percent) and at the free throw line (80 percent to 71 percent).

Temple will hit the road next as it will face the Massachusetts Minutewomen on Friday, January 9. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
