RHODY TWINS TOO MUCH FOR TEMPLE IN 5-0 LOSS

KINGSTON, RI - Rhode Island's all-league duo of Megan and Melane Kasparek combined for five goals to lead the Rams to a 5-0 victory over Temple on Friday night. URI, one of the contender's in the Atlantic 10 race, outshot the Owls 24-4 and held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Rams improve to 5-6, 2-0 in the A-10, while TU drops to 3-6, 0-2.
Megan Kasparek started the scoring just 1:34 in off a corner kick from Kelly McTurk and her sister Melanie, the reigning A-10 Offensive Player of the Year, tallied the first of her three goals 10 minutes later. Melanie added another at the 23:40 mark, while Megan followed two minutes later with her second goal to give URI a 4-0 lead.
Melanie completed the hat-trick in the 52nd minute off another assist from McTurk. Rhode Island's Ria Carroll and Kirsten Marra made three saves to combine for the shutout.
Senior Jackie Mauro (five saves) and sophomore Elizabeth Tarasevich (three saves) split time in net for Temple. The Owls continue their tour of New England with Sunday's match at Massachusetts. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
