AMBLER, PA -- An impressive effort by the Temple University women's soccer team against one of the Atlantic 10 Conference's top teams came up short as the visiting Dayton Flyers bested the Owls, 1-0, Sunday at Ambler Field.  The Owls fell to 4-9 overall with the loss, 1-5 in league play.  Dayton remained unbeaten in the A-10 with a 5-0 mark while improving to 12-1 overall.

The Flyers goal came in the 41st minute on a blast from Kristen Persichini.  It was the lone goal that got past senior goalkeeper Jackie Mauro, who was stellar in defeat.  Mauro recorded six saves in the contest and was tested often as the Flyers were on the attack throughout the match.

Persichini took a pass from teammate Alicija Bredlo and pushed forward to the top of the box before drilling it past a diving Mauro.

Dayton controlled the tempo the entire match, taking 34 shots on goal to Temple's three attempts.  Stacey DeLuca, the Flyer keeper, recorded just two saves in posting the shutout.

The Owls return to Ambler Field on October 15 when they host Atlantic 10 rival La Salle at 3:00 p.m.
