FORDHAM TOPS TEMPLE IN WOMEN'S SOCCER, 2-0

AMBLER, PA  - The Temple women's soccer team dropped a tough 2-0 decision to Fordham Sunday afternoon at Ambler Field.  With the loss, the Owls fall to 4-11 overall and 1-6 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.  Fordham improves to 8-3-2, 3-3-1.

 

Fordham opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Leah Jerome intercepted a Temple thrown in, and passed it to Corey Dunfey.  Dunfey then blasted it past Owl keeper Jackie Mauro to make it 1-0.

 

The Rams picked up an insurance goal courtesy of a penalty kick.  Beth Purcell coverted the PK in the 57th minute of play to provide the final scoring in the match.

 

Julie Wynns made five saves in posting her fifth shutout of the season.  Mauro recorded seven saves in goal for the Owls.

 

Temple next travels to Atlantic 10 rival Duquesne for a 7:00 p.m. match on October 22.
